TWO MISSING NYC WOMEN, KRISTINE KUPKA AND ANNA MARIE SCIVETTI,
ARE THE FOCUS OF A NEW CLASS AT WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE
This unique "murder or missing" course has adult students searching
for REAL answers to REAL questions and making a REAL difference!
The Westchester Community College brochure reads, "Do you love
a good mystery? Here's your chance to experience the real thing.
You become the detective. Investigate current unsolved cases and
unravel the mystery." The private investigator/instructor places
the students in the driver's seat allowing them to learn as they
investigate. Gil Alba, retired First-Grade New York City detective
and private investigator, is an instructor with first-hand experience.
"This course is an in depth study of the Kupka and Scivetti cases
- two women who disappeared in 1998 and whose cases are still active
with the NYPD," stated Alba. Students research these and similar
cases thus learning the appropriate procedures for conducting their
own investigations, such as interviewing detectives, examining
various means to dispose of bodies, developing theories, and the
proper methods for approaching potential witnesses.
"We have become part of these cases," stated Sue DuRoss, a 42-year-old
mother of 4 as she contacts the homicide detective & questions
the police inspector in charge of the Scivetti case. "I know the
Kupka case can be solved," stated Tom Pagliaro, a veteran NYC corrections
officer, "this is a great course and more law enforcement officers
should take it to learn investigative procedures from the best!"
Several guest speakers have attended, "The Art of Investigations,"
classes. Among them were Kathy Kupka who came to share the story
of her missing sister. Dr. Joanne McMahon, a parapsychological
researcher, explained the use and misuse of psychics in many investigations.
Detective Diaz who delved into the course of action in the Weinstein
Case, the NY millionaire whose kidnapping made headlines in NYC,
and Homicide Detective Mike McLaughlin, assigned the Scivetti case.
The class is even planning a field trip to accompany a psychic
to the place where he believes Kristine Kupka's body is buried.
Additionally, The TV Show 48 Hours with Dan Rather will soon
show the Kupka case.
